Allergy testing is a series of patch and prick tests carried out by a specialist to help identify the causes of inflammations and reactions. An allergy can occur when your immune system reacts to substances (called allergens) that are usually harmless for most people.

Allergy testing is important in managing allergies, as testing indicates what you are allergic to. Testing will also help our specialists advise you on the best ways to avoid these allergens.

A patch test is a method used to determine whether a specific substance causes allergic inflammation of a patient’s skin. Patches are placed in the marked and prepped area of skin for 48 hours to find out what is causing irritation or inflammation to the skin.

A skin prick test, also called a puncture or scratch test, checks for immediate allergic reactions to as many as 40 different substances at once.
