A Port-A-Cath® is a medical device that is a prescribed treatment for the frequent administration of medication directly into your bloodstream.

A Port-A-Cath®, also referred to as a port with a catheter attached. The catheter is inserted into one of the large veins in the neck, and the port itself is placed surgically beneath the skin by a Cardiac Surgeon. The implantation of a port is considered a minor procedure performed under local or general anaesthesia with only one or two small incisions.

A port will remain inserted for the duration of your treatment and can remain for 1-2 years if required.

Our highly skilled team will discuss with you your personalised treatment plan, including the anticipated duration of the port.
