Mr. Mark Formosa MD MPhil FRCOG
Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr Mark Formosa has an extensive work experience in an acute technical hospital at Consultant level.
He worked both in obstetrics and gynaecology and his special interest are miscarriage and complex gynaecology surgery.
Currently he is the Vice-President of the Malta College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is very active within the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Ms. Christine Portelli MD MRCOG (UK)
PDip Minimal access and robotic surgery (UK)
Ms Christine Portelli MD MRCOG PDip Minimal access and robotic surgery (UK) undertook her advanced training in the UK where she was appointed a consultant in minimal invasive surgery within the NHS.
While in training she completed advanced training modules in Obstetrics and a Post Graduate Fellowship obtaining a diploma in Minimal Invasive and Robotic Surgery for gynaecology.
This experience led her to be the lead in several projects as a consultant within the NHS leading several service improvement projects and patient care. Ms Christine Portelli is a member of various esteemed medical societies, including the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and both the British and European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy and is committed to maintaining the highest standard of practice by participating within these colleges.
Mr. Benjamin Galea MD MRCOG CCT(UK)
Specialist in Early Pregnancy Care and Acute Gynaecology
Benjamin Galea is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St James Hospital, Malta. He is a co-founder of the St James Hospital Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, a new service to Malta offering specialist care to women with early pregnancy problems.
He undertook his specialty training in the UK, obtaining advanced training in advanced labour ward practice, obstetric medicine, and acute gynaecology and early pregnancy at the Rosie Hospital, Cambridge. On completing his training, he was subsequently appointed as a Locum Consultant and Early Pregnancy Unit Lead within the same department.
Given his comprehensive UK experience, he is motivated to implement new services locally. Apart from the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, he is currently in the process of relaunching the St James low risk Birthing Unit, and introducing an outpatient hysteroscopy clinic.
