Dr Cassar Maempel’s curiosity and fascination for cardiology were stimulated as he grew up admiring his late grandfather’s lifelong dedication for his patients and his great enthusiasm to pass on his medical knowledge to his students as professor of medicine.
Dr Cassar Maempel is passionate about providing the best possible evidence-based medicine for his patients while embracing the whole family dynamics of the patient. He has a special interest in keeping up-to-date with the latest techniques used in the cardiac catheterization lab so as to provide state-of-the-art interventions when a heart procedure is required for his patient.
He provides complete preventive (hypertension (blood pressure) and hyperlipidemia (cholesterol)), diagnostic (echocardiograms, stress tests, blood pressure and Holter monitors, CT coronary calcium scores and CT angiography) and therapeutic cardiology services including angiograms, right heart catheterization, coronary stenting, PFO closures, transfemoral aortic valve replacements and pacemaker implantation.
Dr Cassar Maempel is certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. He has published multiple papers in top cardiology journals on coronary artery disease, its precursor known as endothelial dysfunction and novel methods of characterizing the disease such as optical coherence tomography.
Dr Cassar Maempel is married, has 3 children and in his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and he is an avid football fan.
