Dr Grech is a Consultant Haematologist with special interests in haematological malignancies and stem cell transplantation. He studied medicine at the University of Malta, graduating in 2004, and obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2011. Dr Grech started working in haematology in 2007 and undertook his training in Malta, Aberdeen, and London. He obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2015 and was appointed Consultant Haematologist in 2020. Dr Grech gained stem cell transplantation experience whilst working at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, one of the largest transplant centres in the UK. Since 2016 he has been running the local transplant clinic at the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, caring for patients requiring autologous and allogeneic haemopoietic stem cell transplantation for various haematological disorders. He is also a visiting lecturer with the Pathology Department at the University of Malta. Apart from stem cell transplantation, Dr Grech’s main interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with malignant haematological disorders including leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and myelodysplasia.
